CARMEN ALTO Carmen Alto, traditional village located on the right side Cayma River Chili and 4 kms. From the Arequipa Main Square. Of quiet streets and traditional people, it has beautiful terraces with good preservation of stone walls and surrounded by ancient paths which are still used today. Chili on the river which divides Arequipa step into two parts. On the river banks are full of vegetation andenerías dating from pre-Inca times, which set the Yarabayas (known as inhabitants of "lloclla" gullies). From there comes the high-water ditch much land and agricultural Cayma Yanahuara, a little further down there are springs which increase the river water. The Rinconada viewpoint shows a beautiful scenery along with the volcanoes Chachani, Misti and Pichu Pichu The pleasant weather is perfect for nurseries grown fruit typical of Arequipa as the tomb, papaya Arequipeña. Finally with this beautiful view we can see llamas and alpacas and a kiosk that offers products such as the "coca" and a typical tuber Peru "maca". Return to previous page
