PACHIA DISTRICT

It was created on 20 December 1856. Pachia is the district capital of the same province name is located to 1095 meters above sea level, northeast of Tacna city and 17.6 km far from it. The weather is pleasant, warm and steady, the village is spread along a central street, has a square, two schools, a magnificent temple, where worships the statue of San Jose, patron of the town. The land surrounding the village are very fertile and cultivated plants in them varied. They are famous, perhaps unique in the country, its "load pumpkins" which are grown on site. PACHIA has a suggestive history, the village was founded after Calana. In times of Wiracocha Mayta Capac, arrived to the place the mitimaes "Keswas". PACHIA The word is derived from the Aymara voices "PAYA", two, and "Chia", rend, divide, that is, "Division of the Road". Indeed, the ancient mule track was divided in two.
